It is Sunday again! No snow here sadly.

If we were having coffee I would tell you I am participating in a challenge called “Consider This” by Cynthia Lee. It is based on Marie Howe’s assignment to her writing students to write 10 observation sentences a week without simile or metaphor. You just write what you see. It is an interesting exercise. Marie has been on the On Being podcast and also has done some of the podcasts for the University of Iowa writing program. It is an exercise in the art of noticing. I have enjoyed the simplicity of focusing on a line. It feels like I could string them all together for a delightful poem. I get a lovely email every day and it warms my heart.

If we were having coffee I would tell you I am choosing three stories from the Best American Short Story Collection and analyzing them and then writing my own short stories with those 3 as inspirations. I haven't chosen all three stories yet just one to start this weekend. I have chosen to start with The Third Tower by Deborah Eisenberg.
