A poem
I’ve been up a whole day
Before your alarm
Sounded.
Trying to write myself
Out of this house.
A full day
Before you
Lived.
Library and tequila
In the same space
Only on the calendar
As if I would forget.
The only ways I
Know to
Sustain
Energy.
Warm in my sweater
Cocooned
Protected
All I want is
Warm and safe.
Like the rocks
And found keys
In the pockets
Of my seven year old
Dress.
