Are You Organized?

A reflection on life circumstance vs stuff

I am a piler. I pile papers and books. I like to think it is part of my creativity, but it may just be an excuse. Chaos seems to be my natural state.

If I put projects and the materials which accompany them away and out of sight I forget about them and move onto the next idea. I have a lot of ideas which swirl through my head and the notebooks to prove it. As a friend remarked after reading my Weekend Coffee Share posts it might mean I have too many things going on in general.

New ideas fuel me. I enjoy the journey and the creating sometimes even more than a finished product. I believe all creative effort is valuable and is never wasted. An idea can come forth in a new project and manifest in a way that is much better than the original — sometimes.

This idea manifests itself in my education life and my personal life.

Right now the table next to my bed has The Artist’s Way book because I am in the middle of the program. I also have the 2019 Best American Short Stories collection I just purchased for myself on my trip to Atlanta that I am reading. I have my notebook that I write morning pages in sitting on top of that book. The stool next to that table has 3 library books I just picked up for when I don’t want to read the other two books. I…
