I was able to attend the All Means All CLC Workshop this past Thursday and Friday and was impacted greatly by the experience. Here is my evaluation of the two days with my 4 question structure I use for professional development.

What I Was Expecting

I was honestly was not sure what to expect. I had heard good things about these presenters and have followed Cornelius on Twitter from the recommendation of our out of district literacy consultant. I knew he had written a book and that he was bringing his partner with him this session. I was impressed there was a welcome video and articles we were able to read ahead of time.

What I Received

Wow. Just wow. Not a surface level, run of the mill professional development that is for sure.

Here are some of the takeaways that stand out the most from the two days:

  1. Real interaction with the other attendees. There were ice breakers and mingling but it was not surface questions. It was deep and meaningful and genuine and added to the work we were doing. It was connected! As someone who does not like small talk, this was heaven.
  2. I was able to really learn more about the colleagues attended the conference with and form deeper and new relationships.
  3. I learned about Eddie and his Bodega in Brooklyn New York and how he does…
